Music Matters SG 2019 - Meeting Dear Kiss!


Music Matters SG announced DEAR KISS as one of the guest performers to grace Clarke Quay. My last Music Matters event had me encounter Naoto Inti Raymi and The Oral Cigarettes. Both were invited for the 2014 edition, both were interesting especially Naoto Inti Raymi. However, from that year till now, I never seen an idol group got themselves invited.


So surprise, Dear Kiss, an actual idol group, is coming to Singapore and representing Japan in this international musical extravaganza. Guess the event wants to show some diversity, hey why not an idol group?

To be honest, I knew about this way before the announcement proper. It goes something like this:

Met random wota comrade at work.
"Ehhhh, you bored no event? I heard hor that Dear Kiss is coming back to SG in September!"
"Hmm whats in September?" --Did a quick check for probable events.--
"There's Natsumatsuri. Nah not likely. And Music Matters. Eh? Music Matters? Are you sure??"

And happened it did!

This year alone Dear Kiss visited a number of countries. From Hong Kong (AFA HK 2019) to Australia (SMASH 2019) to an actual One Man Live in Malaysia. Matter of time they announced Singapore as their next stop. Was expecting to be Anime Festival Asia again (which they might come down again this year), but hey, Music Matters is OK too. No complaints there.

DEAR KISS kinda went all out in promoting their arrival. They have an itinerary packed with lives and off-kais. Just take a look below!

First things first, giving them a warm welcome at the airport. I had no intention to be there until I got that fated call from my workplace for some duty near the vicinity. And since the appointment already set late afternoon, I guess, why not, just head over the airport afterwards.

Next is the "Meet and Greet" located at Hokkaido Marche. Went to venue quite late, around 30mins before end buppan. Opt for the "kuji" since 15 sgd would nail you either Cheki, Group Photo or Video Message. Nailed the cheki. If you want sign, it be 10 SGD more. Rikako was eyeing me throughout, guess I should approach her for a 2-shot.

How about their performance?

It's quite lively even though its just 3 songs long. The fans went all out with their cheering and it draws losts of curious stares from people. To be honest, the crowd were quite impressed. Just take a look at someone's Maho oshi cam below!

One of the lives would be held here at SWITCH. Sadly not attending it.



Due to horrid busy days and low cashflow, only opt for the live and the greeting session in Marche both on Saturday and Sunday. Besides Sunday I have an upcoming SPW event, thus unable to commit myself for their other offkais / performances / photo shoots.

And just like that, its time to send them off at airport.


In all its quite pleasing to see an idoru group in SG again. Sure my wota mode isnt as lively as it used to be but really appreciate to seeing them. And yes, they indeed will be coming over again in November.
