Maidreamin Ekkamai: Thank You For The Memories

Maidreamin Thailand's Ekkamai branch announced that the lease for their site will end this 28th Feb. This annoucement was done days after my awesome experience at Japan Expo X Tokyo Crazy Kawaii.

I decided to do a final visit before they close down. It has been a place of great memories. Have seen meidos come and go (graduated) and experience loads of interesting awesome moments.

Exterior corner of the Meido cafe

This cafe is located smack dab at a corner in Gateway Ekkamai shopping centre. Honestly its a very small space but I personally felt theres more closeness and interactiveness due to it. I feel cosy actually. This cafe is just like your typical maid cafe you find strewn across the streets of Akihabara.

No.1 Maid cafe and bar restaurant

After lots of consideration, I thought what better day to visit than on my birthday!

One of the chekis gotten with a meido there.

Fond Memories:

First visit was during Japan Festa event where ex-MM member Ai Takahashi perform. It was a special visit because Pika meido Suzume joined us. Had quite a moment where we challenged ourselves eating the 'dashimaki tamago'. Subsequent visits include the times where I attend events like Berryz Kobou Naruchika, Japan Festa 2014 and AFA Thailand 2015.

The first meido I was drawn to was KoKo. Reason is very straightforward: she wears megane. Subsequently, there was a new meido named Nanaho and she was the next favourite. Throughout my visits, Nanaho became the one that usually served thus gradually she became more open and welcoming to my visits. Without fail, would get a Nanaho cheki at the end of each cafe session.

Sadly Nanaho just graduated suddenly last year. It was sometime after AFA Thailand. Sigh... she was sorely missed. Next in line was Chise, another megane meido. I recommend getting served by her as she is the most cheery meido in the cafe. You just cant resist her charms.

Menu:

I dont have the menu photo here but you can refer via this link: http://maidreamin.co.th/menu/

The standard meal I would get would be 'Takoyaki', 'Dashimaki Tamago' and 'Melon Soda'. Sometimes they would have themed food such as Strawberry Tamago for Valentines Day.

Takoyaki!

Choky Milk Shack (yes spelt that way)

Melon Sodaaaaa

If you buy certain items, you will have a free cheki. For example is the 'Giant Omurice' and 'Giant Takoyaki' (30 pcs takoyaki!!).  All food bought will be served by the meidos and comes with a mandatory 'Power Up' spell.

Cafe interior & Sales

Here are some photos of the cafe interior. Merchandise is near the cashier corner. For first time visitors, you will be presented with a Maidreamin card.

Maidreamin card

For every 200baht of purchase, you will receive one stamp. Once you got all stamps, your card will be upgraded. As of time of writing, one row of stamps will entitle to one free drink from a selected list. Perks of upgraded cards include discounts and freebies. The only drawback of cards (especially for the first few level ones) is that they come with an expiry. If not upgraded within the expiry, the card will be forfeited and you reset to a new card.

Some merchandise you can buy.

Meido costume! Which you can opt to wear.

Another attraction of this cafe is that you can order 'lives'. Lives are where you can request the meido tos dance for you. They'll dance to songs ranging from idol music to vocaloid. Sometimes there's a mix of KPOP too. First time visitor by default will receive a free live card but they are only limited to one song request: You May Dreaming. See below for the sample.

You May Dreaming is the de facto theme song for Maidreamin as you can hear the song whenever you pass by their outlets.

Celebrating in Maidreamin:

Usually one can order a birthday package in Maidreamin. This package will include a mini cake and the meidos will wish you Happy Birthday accompanied by the Maidreamin version of the Happy Birthday music. However, since the cafe is quite empty and its quite awkward as I am the only celebrating, I opt for a simple quiet moment. The meidos know about it, try to make it worthwhile by gathering everyone and do a simple Birthday cheer. Well at least, they spend some time to chat and interact with me. (below is a short snippet of the birthday song)

Awwww, they were sweet enough to write a Happy Birthday message on my dessert set. Had some chat with Chise, felt like crying as we reminisce the time we spent as customer and meido and how a connection was forged between me and the meidos there.

I end the day with a photo with Chise and Umaru (who has been persistent in getting my attention) and staying on till their closing time. By then, the cafe will play the music to signify 'Dream Time' is ending. (below is another short snippet)

However there was one sad moment after event was over. Nanaho annouced she and Nanamin will be starring as guest meido for the next 2 days! DANGGGGGG, because the next day I will be flying back to Singapore. No fate to see Nanaho again T_T

The official announcement photo on FB. Whyyyyyyyyy :'(

The return of graduated meidos back to the cafe signifies how cherished this place is. By then, its 7 more days till the closure of the cafe. I will just look back and remember fondly how wonderful this place truly is to me.

7 more days till end

Thanks for the great memories Maidreamin Ekkamai!
