Tokyo Clears on stage in STGCC |
For the curious ones, "Clean Clean Clean" is what Tokyo Clears recite in the beginning of their song お掃除しましょ~Clean Love~ . Tokyo Clears' appeal is of an idol group that promotes cleaning. They do actual cleanups around Tokyo, though they be sorely disappointed to see Singapore a very "clean and green" place. They even have one unique chant which includes household cleaning items. Well one thing they did well is cleaning our wallets to buy their merchandise (and cheki) ~
It's STGCC 10 year anniversary, they have a bigger hall with an even wider walking area. For this year's JPOP stage edition, apart from Tokyo Clears, we have Hiiragi Rio, Rie Yunohara (Riecho), Sae Tsukiyama, Ayame (aka Apricot), Color Pointe and DJ Yunomi feat. nicamoq (Yeap, that nicamoq from BPM15Q!). JPOP entertainment galore, at least for us idoru-starved fans. They even have a DJ main stage and a DJ night to appease the appetite of anisong, Bemani and casual fans.

Apart from Riecho, whom made this STGCC her 4th consecutive visit, the one I am keen to see was nicamoq. She has that tendency to be unpredictable, but was surprised that she can still interact nicely with us. Though trying to catch her at the booth itself was frustrating since she only appeared there sparsely. Of course, you can't pass the opportunity meeting the man himself: Yunomi! The guy responsible for some awesome remixes of idoru songs. And he even did Appare Harajuku's overture and 原宿サニーデイ (Appare Sunny Day)
Look how close nicamoq is~ |
We also stumbled upon fleramo. They're one of performers for the Asia Pop Culture segment. This group is no stranger to some of us, because they have been appearing in Thailand for a number of times. Interestingly. they have a cheer called the "Beer Mix".
Its better this year as those ushers wont chase you away after event. Guess thats why the Akiba Zone its an enclosed area on its own. It doesn't impede the clearing up done at other exhibits and keeps us weaboos and wotas enclosed to one area. Imagine how you felt when you paid for a cheki and get chased out, which was what happened during last year's edition.

Another point of interest was the sale of the Mr Kiasu book. After some years absence, Johnny Lau finally wrote another book. I was not aware if there were any book signing from the man himself, instead asked a fellow comrade of book to snag one during CharaExpo. Its quite nostalgic to hold on to the book and seeing Mr Kiasu tackling Kiasuism in the modern world context is interesting. You can even get a limited edition Mr Kiasu statue (with Ah Kow!) but its quite pricey.

There's alot of interesting exhibits such as the Stars Wars experience zone and artist alley. If you're hungry, World Snack Fair has a big space selling munchies and snacks that you can't get locally. Hey! You can buy the non-alcoholic Barbican for a dollar a piece! Sadly didn't have much photos of these exhibits as we're stuck at the Akiba Zone most of the time.
If Akiba Stage makes a return again, will surely attend STGCC for the 2018 edition. And here's hoping that it doesn't clash with the neighbouring CharaExpo.
